Unreal Engine 3 Can Run In Flash Player 11
If you've ever felt dismayed at the lack of hardcore-friendly experiences available in web-based, free-to-play games, here's a story that could be important to you: Epic Games has revealed that its popular Unreal Engine 3 can run in the new Flash Player 11.
Joystiq has the press release for this potentially major announcement. At Adobe's annual Adobe Max conference today, Epic revealed Unreal Tournament 3 running entirely in Flash, a popular browser-based plug-in.
As Joystiq points out, many social gaming hubs such as Facebook rely heavily on Flash. The addition of Unreal Engine adds greatly to Flash's flexibility and could lead to a wider variety of more hardcore options on these services.
Anyone else excited at the prospect of jumping into a fully fleshed-out online shooter and playing it in your browser?
