Nintendo Says No To Smartphone Development, Further 3DS Price Cuts

In a recent interview with the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, Nintendo head Satoru Iwata restated the company's position that it is not interested in developing games for smartphones. He also said that there are no plans for further price cuts of its 3DS handheld.
In the interview, Iwata said that the recent 3DS price drop is intended to be the "first and last," and said that he expects sales of the system to be strong this holiday season on the back of an improved software lineup which includes Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.
Despite pressure from analysts, he also vowed that Nintendo development for smartphones was "absolutely not under consideration….If we did this, Nintendo would cease to be Nintendo."
