Nintendo Announces 3DS-Only Trade Show

by Bryan Vore on Aug 23, 2011 at 06:30 AM

The Wall Street Journal reports that Nintendo has announced a conference in Tokyo focused completely on the 3DS.

Scheduled conspicuously close to the Tokyo Game Show (September 15-18), the Nintendo Conference will take place on September 13. The show won't be open to the public, only "analysts, investors, journalists and people in the industry,' WSJ says.

Nintendo is not providing any further details on what will appear at the conference, but it seems part of the company's plan to revamp the 3DS' strategy, which started with a severe price cut earlier this month. One can only imagine that new games, functionality, and services are all on the table as possibilities.

This may also tie into a recent rumor of a significant redesign for the 3DS.

We'll let you know if we hear anything further about what to expect from Nintendo. Otherwise, stay tuned on September 12 for what are sure to be big announcements in regards to the 3DS.
