Report: iPad 3 Coming Early Next Year
The Wall Street Journal posted a report today indicating that Apple is already hard at work on a next-generation tablet that would release early next year. The Journal reports from details provided by "people familiar with the situation," who say that the new version of the popular tablet computer will boast a 2048 by 1536 display -- significantly higher resolution than the 1024 by 768 resolution of the iPad 2. The screen is 9.7 inches just like the iPad 2.
The report goes on to indicate that suppliers are providing enough parts for 1.5 million new iPad 3s.
Almost needless to say, Apple made no comment on the supposed new device.
Apple certainly has an impressive lead in the tablet scene, but the iPad 3 will release into a marketplace increasingly crowded by competitors. If Apple does indeed release a new version of the iPad early next year, will the iPad 3 be your first tablet purchase? If you've already bought a previous version, will you boost Apple's coffers by getting yet another?
