Google To Buy Motorola Mobility
Google is strengthen its presence in the mobile market with a $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility (subject to approval.)
The deal is expected to be completed by the beginning of next year at the latest, and give Google a boost via Motorola's Android user base. Google says that it will continue to treat Android as an open-ended platform and keep Motorola as a separate company.
"Motorola Mobility’s total commitment to Android has created a natural fit for our two companies," said Larry Page, Google CEO in a statement. "Together, we will create amazing user experiences that supercharge the entire Android ecosystem for the benefit of consumers, partners and developers. I look forward to welcoming Motorolans to our family of Googlers."
