Activision Announces Indie Contest Winners
Last year, Activision announced its Independent Games Competition for a total of $250,000 in cash to individuals or teams making indie games. Today, the company has announced the winner and runner-up of the competition's first round.
Dstroyd, a shooter/RTS hybrid, was created by Peter Angstadt, who is still finishing the game and is now $175,000 closer to completion. Runner-up Rigonauts:Broadside (shown) by Engient took home $75,000. The game is all about building your own war machine and pitting it against your competitors.
As the winner, Activision retains the first right to publish Dstroyd if it wants, although the game will remain the property of Angstadt.
