Leaked Ubisoft Video Hints At Origin Of The Animus

An animated sequence intended for internal Ubisoft use has made its way to the Internet, and even if it doesn't have any official connection to Assassin's Creed, it still poses some interesting questions.

The user who posted the video (originally appearing on Kiwi) included the following comment: "This is an internal project we did here at Ubisoft Cinematics. I animated the character on the table. No mocap whatsoever."

As Joystiq points out, the scene (entitled "Seizure") has a very Jacob's Ladder feel to it, and probably was never intended for public viewing. That doesn't mean it isn't cool, though – especially since it has a shot of what a primitive version of Assassin's Creed's Animus running on a more traditional, old-school computer.

Regardless of its official connection to the series (or lack thereof), the video is still pretty awesome.
