[UPDATE] Batman Goes First-Person With Gotham City Impostors

Warner Bros. has released the first image from the upcoming Batman-themed shooter, highlighting the Jokerz and The Bats gangs.

If the picture is any indication, it looks like players will have the opportunity to play as several different classes, beyond the previously mentioned customization.

[Original Story] Fans of the Dark Knight have more to look forward to than the upcoming Arkham City, thanks to the announcement of Gotham City Impostors. Coming to XBLA, PSN, and PC, this Monolith-developed first-person shooter puts players in the roles of wannabe Batmen and Jokers (known as The Bats and The Jokerz in-game).

“Gotham City Impostors blows apart expectations for superhero games with an exaggerated take on first-person shooters, set in a part of the DC Universe players have never seen before,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior VP of Warner Bros.' Production and Development.  “Monolith is creating a game that turns Gotham City upside down and we think fans are going to have a blast with this creative twist on multiplayer heroism and anti-heroism as they play up the classic rivalry between Batman and The Joker.”

It promises customizable characters and costumes, as well as a slew of weapons and gadgets such as the grapple gun, roller skates, and a glider rig. It sounds like the grapple gun will be instrumental to the gameplay, allowing players to quickly move across the multi-tiered environments in an effort to get the best vantage point.

Batman's aversion to weapons won't be a problem since you're simply an impostor, so you'll have machine guns, shotguns, and rocket launchers at your disposal. As of right now, the action looks like it's 4v4, but the final player count is yet to be determined.

A website for the page has been set up, but there isn't any information or screens as of right now.
