People Spend Way Too Much Time Playing Monster Hunter

While the fascination with the Monster Hunter series may have many gamers scratching their heads, there's obviously a type of gamer that loves the hell out of it. This is evident in its huge sales numbers in Japan, and especially so in a new study by Coffee With Games.

Two points of data really stick out in the study. The first is the fact that gamers have spent a combined 6,313,120 hours playing Monster Hunter Tri, but even more amazing is that the average play time per person is 90 hours, 25 minutes. I might not love the series, but I have to appreciate a game with that much replay value.
