Sony Moves 8 Million Moves, 50 Million PS3s Worldwide

Sony sent out a press release today trumpeting a milestone for its PlayStation Move controller. More than eight million Move controllers have been shipped worldwide. While the release didn't provide specific numbers, it did say that Move accessories like the PlayStation Eye camera, Move navigation controller, and Move software "continues to see strong momentum at retail."

The release also says that the PlayStation Move Sharpshooter, a gun-style peripheral that houses the Move and Move navigation controller, had a 40 percent attach rate with the recently released Killzone 3. This seems to indicate that having quality compatible software can actually help a peripheral's sales (hear that, Microsoft?).

While it might not have gotten out of the gates as quickly as Kinect, the Move seems to be at least a moderate success for Sony thus far.
