Minecraft Gets A Release Date

According to Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson, the term “release date” means little else than dropping the beta title.

The game will “hit” on November 11, 2011, which is right around the same time games like Battlefield 3 and Uncharted 3 will be releasing. Of all the games releasing then, Notch says he’s most excited for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and that having a chance to play it will “be a nice reward for me if we actually manage to hit that date!”

Notch explains that the term “release date” means very little simply based on the fact that the game will be continually updated after “release.” He also offers some info on new 1.5 updates like snow, rain, lighting, and thunder.
