MLB Facebook Game From EA Playfish Out Now
EA snuck one through the Major League Baseball/2K Sports exclusivity agreement. Too bad it's a Facebook game that gives you scrubs like Drew Butera until you pony up cash money for real players.
World Series Superstars is entirely unremarkable as a game, but it's moderately interesting as a canary in the mineshaft of the hopeful expiration of the lame 2K Sports deal (which sadly killed EA's excellent MLB series back in 2005).
Seriously, the player pack the game spots you to start off with gave me Angels prospect Mark Trumbo and a bunch of guys that I've never even heard of. Me, the guy who literally had six spreadsheets running concurrently at his five-hour live fantasy baseball draft. Embarrassing.
On the other hand, if this is a signal that EA and MLB are friends again, I'll put up with it. I'd love more competition in the baseball video game space, especially considering 2K's poor stewardship of its exclusive third-party franchising rights.
