Minecraft Coming To iOS

According to an exclusive interview with the Mojang team, Minecraft is making its way to iOS. An official version of the indie phenomenon is underway for both the iPhone and iPad.

Gamasutra reports that the iOS iterations are being developed by Aron Neiminen, a new addition to the growing indie development house. Creator Markus Persson said not to expect a one-to-one translation, as not every update for the browser/downloadable original will make sense for the touch-screen nature of iOS play.

The iOS versions of Minecraft are slated to release later this year.

Considering how much time and effort individuals put into their Minecraft creations, one has to wonder if account linking will be an option. If not, will core players give the game a chance? Or is the goal to capture an entirely new audience looking to grind on the go?
