Acclaimed Indie Developer Releases Inside A Star-Filled Sky
Jason Rohrer doesn't have the name recognition of big-budget game creators like Ken Levine and Hideo Kojima, but his work in the world of indie development has won wide acclaim -- especially his haunting multiplayer title Between, whch received the Innovation Ward at the 2009 Independent Games Festival.
His latest game is Inside a Star-Filled Sky, described on the game's website as an "an infinite, recursive, tactical shooter for one player." It's a top-down shooter laden with randomly generated levels, swarming enemies, and a host of power-ups. However, the game throws in some interesting wrinkles by allowing you to edit and tweak both enemies and power-ups. As with all of Rohrer's games, it's well worth a look, and will only cost you $1.75 for a non-DRM version for Windows, Mac, or Linux.
