Want More FreeSpace? So Does Volition
"There is a group of people [at Volition] that would commit murder to do that game," said Volition producer Jim Boone. Anybody know a guy who knows a guy? Because more FreeSpace would be awesome.
The classic PC space sim franchise has been in hibernation since 1999's FreeSpace 2 sold worse than the original. Boone told NowGamer that he blames the decline of the then-ubiquitous joystick peripheral.
However, we live in a different gaming world today than at the turn of the millennium. "My theory has been, ever since we’ve got analogue as a standard controller for consoles no one has done a heavy-duty, top, top quality space sim on console," Boone said.
Maybe someone should.
