Sony Reveals NGP Handheld
We already know about Sony Ericsson's PSP Phone (now called Xperia Play), but that's not the only handheld gaming device up Sony's sleeve. At a Sony press conference in Japan, the company revealed that it has been working on a successor to the PSP for some time. It's called NGP.
Sony's new NGP, which stands for Next Generation Portable (probably not a final title) features dual analog sticks, a 5-inch OLED display, 3G and GPS, front and rear touchpads, and electronic compass, and more.
It sounds like games will come on a new kind of physical media – flash memory-based cards – but it sounds like players will also be able to download titles via 3G and WiFi.
Game franchises we've seen demoed on the device so far include Hot Shots Golf, Gravity Daze, Killzone, Reality Fighters, Smart as, Broken, LittleBigPlanet, Little Deviants, WipEout, Resistance, and Uncharted.
The NGP is scheduled to come out this holiday season, and we're hoping to update you on the unit's price shortly. We can't wait to hear more.
