Weekend Warrior 01/21/11

by Annette Gonzalez on Jan 21, 2011 at 01:00 PM

This week Minnesota experienced some of its coldest temperatures yet and it shows no sign of slowing down. This just means another reason to stay indoors and fire up our favorite games! Find out what we're playing this weekend, then add your gaming to-do in the comments section!

Jeff C: My brother is in town, so we’ll probably play a lot of racing games this weekend. He rarely plays games anymore—last night he asked what the right analog stick was used for on the 360 controller—but he does all right when he’s driving pretend cars. Other than that, I’m going to try to squeeze in some LittleBigPlanet 2 and DC Universe Online. I’m halfway through the install process on DC, and I’m excited to actually play the stupid thing.

Joe: Well, WoW officially has me...again. If I can tear myself away from my computer, I’ll be diving back into LittleBigPlanet 2 to start creating more crazy vehicles. I might even try to construct an entire level.

Tim: World. Of. Warcraft. That’s probably going to happen this weekend. I just hit 20 and got my mount, so my ambition has improved in parallel with my speed. Additionally, I hope to get some more Amnesia done. I tend to try to play the game alone at night, and it turns out that narrow play window is restricting my time with the game. Maybe I’ll just blot out the sun. Other than that I hope to try out Minecraft’s multiplayer server with a friend, and finish Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Jeff M: Now that Minnesota has somehow transformed into planet Hoth, I think I’ll spend the weekend holed up in my house playing more Oblivion. When I’m not playing that, I’ll be busy playing the original Dead Space and trying not to crap myself over how scary it is.

Ben Hanson:
This weekend I will continue my love affair with my newly-purchased Wii.  In addition to unhealthy amounts of Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Cave Story, I will boot up the new GoldenEye with some friends to see if it can live up to my cherished split-screen memories. I will also grind my way through Super Smash Bros. Brawl in an attempt to unlock Toon Link. I might even break up the action with a couple rounds of Balloon Fight.

Annette: Lots of exciting gaming plans this weekend. Aside from working through Mass Effect 2 DLC, I just picked up my copy of LittleBigPlanet 2 and look forward to getting some quality time with my PS3. I plan on playing online with my nephews back in Chicago just as we have been with the original even to this day. We're all looking forward to seeing all the awesome stuff the game has to offer. I also plan on blasting through some Black Ops zombie mode with a few friends. Games!

Dan: Just bought the Collector’s Edition of LittleBigPlanet 2, so I think it’s time to dive into the level creator and attempt to make Air Force Gator. Really looking forward to checking out the community levels as well because I know they’ll be doing some crazy things with this game. Outside of games, I’ll probably be watching some playoff football, SNL, and catching up with Conan/Colbert/Daily Show after being out of town this week.

Phil: I’m going to spend a lot of time this weekend preparing for my trip to Japan next week, so I’m not sure how much gaming time I’ll get. I’m hoping to sink whatever time I have into Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening, which I’m about halfway through, and DC Universe Online, which I started the other night and have been loving. I’m also going to grab Ghost Trick from the vault for the plane ride. Hooray, Japan!

Sean: My wife and I are celebrating our sixth anniversary at Benihana! She and our kids have never been! It is technically a week late, so I may have just wanted an excuse to go to Benihana. That's our big event. I'm picking up LittleBigPlanet 2 for the kids, will be trudging through Mass Effect and its DLC in hopes of playing the sequel and its DLC (which yes, I have already purchased because I am loving it), and maybe firing up the Kinect to get my lazy butt off the couch.

That's it for us! What are you playing this weekend?
