Incriminating Emails Surface In Modern Warfare Court Case

by Adam Biessener on Jan 20, 2011 at 10:00 AM

New evidence in the ongoing Activision-Infinity Ward legal drama paints IW founders Jason West and Vince Zampella in a poor light.

The email in question was given to Activision by EA pursuant to the pre-trial discovery process. Sent from EA DICE senior director of global marketing Lincoln Hershberger, the email reads, "A couple months ago, I asked Vince to hold back their map pack until after we launched. (He owes me one). Given that they've already made a billion, he was cool with that, obviously Kotick took it as being belligerent."

In a comment given to Kotaku, EA spokesman Jeff Brown said the email was "obviously sarcasm." Brown continued, "It's clear from the email this was a joke and they never spoke. We explained this to lawyers at Activision – who apparently don't have much of a sense of humor."

Honestly, I'm not jumping to take sides on this one. Either scenario seems plausible. As my "not caring that much about which particular multi-millionaire gets more millions of dollars" policy remains in effect, my world remains intact.

On the other hand, drama is always amusing and it's kind of fun to watch grown men on both sides snipe at each other like school girls fighting over some kid with too-big hair.

What do you think? Which executives are the surly young girls, and which ones are the little boys who spend far too much time worrying about how they look?
