8 Million Kinect Units Sold In 60 Days
When Microsoft originally announced its target of selling five million units of Kinect before the end of 2010, I thought they were setting their sights a bit too high. Looks like the joke's on me, as the corporation has announced that they surpassed their own expectations, selling a shocking eight million units of Kinect in the product's first 60 days on sale.
The numbers come via Microsoft's CES keynote, where they also listed off a few more impressive stats: 50 million Xbox 360s have been sold worldwide, making the system the number one seller in the U.S. for the last six months, and Xbox Live has now grown to 30 million users.
Anyone who was hoping that Kinect wouldn't stick around should probably start rethinking their expectations. The new technology is clearly here to stay. Let's just hope Microsoft is brewing up some more interesting games for it.
