Sony Online Hints At PlanetSide Sequel

Sony's PlanetSide was a first, a persistent world MMO shooter that maintains a fervent fanbase to this day. A sequel has long been rumored, and now it looks like it might be a reality.

In an interview with The Escapist, Sony Online head John Smedley dropped some serious hints that the company is getting ready to bring back the franchise. ""We have a very big launch coming in the month of March," Smedley said. "It's a big first person shooter franchise that we're really happy with."

He then seemed to all but confirm that this FPS was, in fact, a new PlanetSide. ""We don't have the official name for it. Planetside Next is kind of the working title," he revealed.
