Weekend Warrior 12/03/10

by Annette Gonzalez on Dec 03, 2010 at 01:00 PM

It's the first Weekend Warrior post in December thus the end of the year is creeping up. Have you caught up with this year's games? Let us know what you're playing in the comments section!

Kato: I wanted to play Amnesia this weekend, but it looks like the one thing my MacBook is missing is the appropriate graphics card. I’m going to try and see if this PC notebook I have will run it, but I doubt it. Last night, when I was scouring forums to find out why the Steam copy of Amnesia wasn’t working, I quickly remembered why I don’t do any PC gaming. I like the fact that on a console, I can just put in the disc and start playing. No driver updates, no graphics cards, no worries.

With Amnesia likely a no-go for this weekend, I’ll be playing a lot of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood – and perpetually fighting with myself between doing story quests and upgrading Rome. It’s so easy for me in that game to spend hours doing busywork. I’ve also gotten in the habit of playing at least one multiplayer session before I play any single-player, so I hope to get my multiplayer ranking into the teens or twenties this weekend. I’m probably going to pull out Red Dead Redemption and play some more of that as well.

Dan: Taking it a little easy this weekend, probably working on some more Amnesia, Sly Collection, Pac-Man DX, and Pinball FX2. I’m also trying to beat Castlevania: Lords of Shadow on the hardest difficulty, so we’ll see how that goes. After the Drinking Spelling Bee tomorrow night, it’s time to prepare for a special guest at the GI office on Monday.

Tim: I beat the Black Ops campaign just last night, so this weekend I hope to get in some more multiplayer and zombies. On top of that I hope to beat the original version of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, get more Bandage Girl levels done in Super Meat Boy, play Mega Man 10, and maybe finally, finally blow the dust off of Valkyria Chronicles II.

Annette: I've been playing the hell out of Donkey Kong Country Returns so I plan on wrapping that up this weekend. Between this and Super Mario Galaxy 2 I haven't spent this much time with Wii since I first bought the console. I also plan on some Mass Effect 2. My goal is to finish it by mid-month so I can finally wrap up Red Dead Redemption and get in on the DLC action!

Jeff A: After finally putting Darksiders to rest and blazing through God of War 3, I’ll be moving on to Assassin’s Creed...no, not Brotherhood...2! It’s 2009 all over again. And yes, I do have Brotherhood waiting in the wings as well. I’m also still working through Chrono Trigger on the trusty DS. Not that I didn’t think it would be good, but it really is. Some old games really do hold up better than others. I’ll also hunker down for a nice boatload of sports as well – college football, college hockey, and NFL. Awesome weekend indeed.

That's it for us! What are you playing this weekend?
