Civilization IV Theme Nominated For Grammy

by Matt Helgeson on Dec 03, 2010 at 09:32 AM

In a first for game music, composer Christopher Tin's opening theme for Sid Meier's Civilization IV has been nominated for a Grammy, the music industry's most prestigious award.

The song, "Baba Yetu", is nominated in the "Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists" category. The song, previously used in Civ IV, features the Soweto Gospel Choir and was appeared this year on Tin's album Calling All Dawns, which is also nominated for "Best Crossover Classical Album".

Hopefully this is a first step towards the Grammy's acknowledging some of the amazing music being composed for video games.
