Black Ops Commercial Boosts Rolling Stones' Sales

by Bryan Vore on Nov 19, 2010 at 11:20 AM

Remember that Call of Duty: Black Ops commercial starring Kobe Bryant? It's not only selling copies of Black Ops. Backing track "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones is seeing a bump in sales too.

According to Billboard.com, weekly track sales jumped from 2,000 to 5,000 to almost 11,000 between October 31 and November 14. The Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" is used in the actual game and also doubled its previous weeks' sales reaching almost 5,000. Tim Riley, Activision's VP of music affairs, tells Billboard that the company will dip into the Stones' catalog once again for another Black Ops-related project, though he wouldn't clarify if it will be a trailer, ad, or part of a game soundtrack.
