Weekend Warrior 11/12/10

by Annette Gonzalez on Nov 12, 2010 at 01:00 PM

Check out which games we're playing this weekend, then share your plans in the comments section. Huzzah!

Andy: I have a retail copy of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood in my hand and I will spend my entire weekend playing the Ezio out of it.

Reiner: This weekend is dedicated to two of this year’s biggest releases. Saturday goes to Call of Duty: Black Ops. Sunday to Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. In any free time I have, I’m avoiding my wife so that I can play as much Black Ops multiplayer as I can. These are the days where I wish I had a secret lair or bat cave.

Bertz: *** this stack of games I need to play is getting high. My plan is to wrap up Halo Reach single-player and Fable III before jumping into Call of Duty: Black Ops, but will the allure of the Cold War be too much for me to withstand? My ideal solution would be to freeze time so I could complete all three plus Fallout: New Vegas before Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood comes out next week. Where is Bill and Ted’s phone booth time machine when you need it?

Bryan: I don’t have a lot of solo gaming time available this weekend, but I am excited to get together with a bunch of friends to play Rock Band 3, Dance Central, and other assorted Kinect games.

Tim: I’ve been brushing up on my Silent Hill knowledge recently, so I’ll likely continue with that this weekend. On top of that I hope to crack back into Super Street Fighter IV, play Valkyria Chronicles II, and play some old school Castlevania. I want to finally beat Castlevania III.

Jeff M: This weekend I plan to play more Assassin’s Creed II. Last time I played a random woman in the game saw me climbing a building and exclaimed, “He’s-a funny little monkey!” I have been in love with the game ever since. When I’m not playing AC II, I’ll spend more time tackling my co-workers’ high scores in Pinball FX 2, then spam them with the game’s message system, ‘cuz that’s how I roll.

Dan: Tonight I’m heading over to Jeff Cork’s to drink 40s and play video games. Tomorrow I’m heading to a monster truck rally at the Metrodome, and I really want to see a giant metal dragon eat some cars. When I’m at home, I’ll probably be playing some Black Ops multiplayer and finishing the last couple of chapters of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Then again, last weekend got derailed by about 74 hours of Pinball FX 2, so that’s not out of the question for this weekend, either.

Annette: I'm working the news grind this weekend for our beloved website so in between stories I'll wrap up the UNC missions I have left in Mass Effect so I can FINALLY move on to the sequel. I promised myself I'd just power through the main story missions so I can move on, but as a completist I caved. Also, a little Rock Band 3 is in order.

Phil: In addition to finishing up some games I'll be writing about in the next issue of the magazine, I have two goals this weekend. First, I want to wrap up Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I'm at Chapter VIII, and though I'm pretty much in love with the game, I've run into some really difficult and frustrating enemy combos. Tonight, I'm going to smash through all the jerk skeletons that I can and hopefully see credits roll. After that, I'm pretty sure I'll be devoting most of my time to Black Ops multiplayer. I'm only level 7 right now, so I have a whole lot of leveling to go and weapons to unlock. When I'm not leveling up in regular multiplayer modes, I'll be playing the incredibly addictive Gun Game wager match mode, which I highly recommend checking out.

Hanson: This weekend I will be bouncing back and forth between Spore and Oblivion on PC. I have too many games rotting away on my iPhone, so I hope to finish Puzzle Agent this weekend and am also curious to look into these angered birds that I hear so much about. On the more obscure side of things, I will be continuing my obsession with an imported copy of a puzzle game on the GBA called Kururin Paradise. It has only been eight years, so there’s still a chance of a U.S. release. Write letters.

That's it for us. What are you playing this weekend?
