Why Did The Hedgehog Cross The Road?

Sonic Colors released in the UK this week, and how did Sega choose to honor the situation? By putting a few real life hedgehogs in the road. Did I mention that the hedgehog population is reported to be declining?

According to The Daily Mail, less hedgehogs are being hit by cars these days, which they suggests there are less hedgehogs in general. So they teamed up with Sega to…tada! Put more of the spiky rodents in the roadway.

Don’t worry, there was a crossing guard. “Our hedgehogs had great fun ruling the roads for the day with the hedgehog crossing and it will hopefully encourage everyone to do their bit in helping the hedgehogs of Britain stick around for years to come,” said handler Trevor Smith.

I guess it’s better than releasing a skulk of foxes from a helicopter, complete with an extra tail grafted to their bums.
