Monumental Game Canceled, Staff Cut

Monumental, the development studio that handles Capcom’s MotoGP, is hitting a rocky patch in the road. Reports indicate that the studio is slimming down its staff after an unforeseen game cancellation.
The would-be publisher of the mystery game reportedly backed down from an agreement that Monumental thought was a sealed deal. Monumental CEO Rick Alexander regrets the layoffs, but says they are unavoidable following the cancellation.
Alexander also asserts that Monumental is taking “necessary steps to secure the business and its plans for the future.”
The developer is also working on a 3D MMO engine, called Prime. Alexander says the company is doing all it can to ensure that Prime comes to fruition.
