Weekend Warrior 11/05/10

by Annette Gonzalez on Nov 05, 2010 at 02:00 PM

The weekend is among us! Tell us your gaming plans in the comments section of this post! Also, be sure to welcome our new video guy, Ben Hanson. This is his first post!

Kato: Like a lot of people in the office, I’m hooked on XBLA’s Pinball FX2, and I plan to play a lot of it this weekend. Unlike most of the people here, however, I’m taking it one board at a time. Right now I’m on the Secrets of the Deep table, and plan to stay there until I get the board mastered and I get the high score among those on my friend’s list (I’m currently in second place with a score of over 17 million). I’m not a great pinball player by any stretch, so I really feel like I have to make sure I perfect my strategies for attacking the boards correctly.

Bryan: It looks like we’ll be playing a bunch of Kinect stuff over at Dan’s on Friday night and then I’m going to try to make some progress in Super Meat Boy during the rest of the weekend if that’s at all possible.

Annette: Playing a little catch-up this weekend. Just played through the entire DJ Hero 2 setlist and now moving on to Rock Band 3. Playing keyboard. So excited. Also playing a bit of Borderlands, Mass Effect (STILL NOT FINISHED, I KNOW!), and I plan on trying out Pinball FX2. These guys won't shut up about it.

Jeff M: This weekend I really want to play more Assassin’s Creed II since I’ve only managed to play about an hour of it so far, but the inevitable truth is I’m probably going to spend an obscene amount of time playing Pinball FX2. I don’t know what the hell it is about this game, but I’m totally obsessed, and I have never really been a big fan of actual pinball. It just goes to show you that everything in life is better with a wizard score.

Dan: I broke down and bought a Kinect, and I’m actually really happy with it so far. Granted, I was super into Wii when it first launched too, so let’s hope this lasts a little longer. I’ll also be playing a game that doesn’t require me to jump around my living room, as I will put more hours into the awesome Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I’m not currently planning on playing too much Pinball FX2 this weekend, but that will most likely turn into “I played 26 hours of Pinball FX2” by Monday morning. Outside of gaming, I’m hoping to get a copy of The Room to watch (and mock) with some other GI guys tonight, and I’ll be at the Drinking Spelling Bee again tomorrow.

Tim: I’ve been having a blast with Enslaved so that's happening. In addition to this I look forward to sneaking in some Valkyria Chronicles II, Pokemon FireRed, and hopefully finishing the novel Resistance: The Gathering Storm.

Ben Hanson: I’m hoping to finally beat Costume Quest this weekend. I will also be starting up Enslaved and Castlevania. As if this isn’t enough to keep me busy, I’m planning on playing catch-up on my PC by finally checking out Spore and (shamefully) Fallout 3…. yes, 3.

Sean: Kinect and Move are in our house having a staring contest. We have enjoyed both equally and immensely – here’s hoping the software can match what the hardware can do. I also turn 28 on Sunday, and don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour that day. Here are the games: Rock Band 3, Kinectimals, EyePet for PSP – all of those with my family, for just me there’ll be Fallout: New Vegas and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Jeff A: Other than resisting the urge to run out and purchase Fallout: New Vegas, I’ll be trying to wrap up Darksiders even though I secretly never want that game to end. I keep saying I’m going to dive back into Chrono Trigger, but that has been an epic fail the last three weekends. We’ll see. And I’ll be cheering on my Gopher hockey squad as they battle the drunken cheeseheads from Madison. Always a good time.

That's it for us. What are you up to this weekend?
