Weekend Warrior 10/22/10

by Annette Gonzalez on Oct 22, 2010 at 02:00 PM

Read on to find out what we're up to this weekend, then head over to the comments section and share your plans.

Reiner: The plan for the weekend was to take care of the leaves in my yard. Thanks to Jeff Cork’s awesome idea of finding a neighborhood kid to do it for practically nothing, I won’t be doing any yard work! The weekend now consists of cold drinks, Castlevania: LOS, Fable III, Vanquish, and live wrestling...at a venue in Chanhassen, MN...not my house.

Helgeson: Going out to dinner at La Belle Vie and the STNNNG CD release party on Saturday night. Then, sleeping as much as I can and playing Darksiders.

Bertz: After a great vacation in Italy I’m eager for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, but biding my time until its release date will be easy thanks to Fallout: New Vegas. If you need me, I’ll be dispatching radiated punks in Sin City. I’ll cap the weekend off by watching the Vikings slaughter the hapless Packers like the Visigoths did to Rome on Sunday Night Football. Nothing’s sweeter than watching the cheeseheads drown their sorrow in lite beer and bratwursts after a crippling defeat to their superior rivals.

Joe: I'm going to be playing some board games this weekend! After playing Arkham Horror, Twilight Imperium, Descent, and Castle Ravenloft over the last couple months, I'm surprised at how many excellent and complex options are available. Unfortunately, I won't have much time for video games, but I'll be thinking about Dead Rising 2 and Castlevania, even if I won't be playing them.

Jeff C: I’m going to spend some time in the Mojave Wastelands this weekend, crossing my fingers that I manage to avoid too many bugs and crashes. I’ll probably take a few breaks from New Vegas to play some Super Meat Boy as well, though I might break my fist after punching through the wall a few dozen times. I watched Jeff M. play SMB for a while, and while success looks pretty sweet, the constant stream of failure makes my hand throb in anticipation.

Bryan: I’m on my way to usurping the throne of Albion in Fable III right now and hope to own all the real estate in the world soon. I hear it pays to be ultra rich in the second half of the game.

Dan: It’s definitely going to be a testosterone-filled weekend, as I’m going to an independent pro wrestling show tomorrow night, followed immediately by the WWE Bragging Rights Pay-Per-View at the Target Center on Sunday. When I have free time, I’ll continue my journey through New Vegas and hopefully play through Red Dead’s Undead Nightmare DLC. I should probably be moving to my new apartment since I need to be out of my current one by next weekend, but wrestling and video games take priority.

Tim: I beat Dead Rising 2, but I need to put some overtime in. I’m halfway through Dracula’s Castle in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, so I’ll likely finish that. Besides that, I downloaded Super Meat Boy last night and beat the first world. I’m hooked. I want to play it as soon as possible. Unfortunately, Valkyria Chronicles II has been collecting a bit of dust, so I plan to get a mission or two done in it.

Jeff M: This week I’m going to be playing more Super Meat Boy. After playing through it for review, I’m enjoying going back and completing everything I possibly can. I have almost 100% completion on World 1, but sooner or later the game is going to kick my ass. I think I will also start Assassin’s Creed II this weekend, which I managed to grab for $20 this week. You can’t beat that price!

Annette: I'm working the weekend news shift, but will take a few breaks in between to check out the copy of Singularity that I just got my hands on. Otherwise there will be spurts of iPhone gaming as my obsession with Angry Birds hasn't let up!

That's it for us. What are you up to this weekend?
