Weekend Warrior 10/08/10
The staff once again shares their glorious plans and then opens up the floor for you to tell us what sorts of awesome activities you will engage in this weekend.
Andy: Besides watching the Twins hopefully pull out a miracle versus the Yankees (if could happen!), I have a poker game planned for Saturday night that I hope will lead to a little extra pocket cash for Sunday pizza. I'll enjoy my pizza with a Season 5 The Wired marathon so I can finally start playing the games on my stack I haven’t gotten to. Yes, video games are my job and I still don’t have enough time in the day to get to all the ones I want to play. It’s sad, I know.
Reiner: I’ll be in Vegas hunting mutant geckos with dynamite! And for those of you wondering, my snow globe collection is amazing! Just don’t touch them: Most of them were found in radiated zones!
Bertz: See you later suckers! I'm off until the 19th for a trip to Italy. When I'm not drinking wine, eating pasta, and riding on a scooter saying caio, I'll be taking in the sights and charting good rooftop routes for when I play Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood this November. The only gaming I'll likely fit in on the trip will be some iPhone games on the plane and maybe the latest Professor Layton title.
Tim: Sadly, my life has been devoid of Halo: Reach up until now. A copy of the game has finally fallen my way, and Dan, Reiner, Ben and I are going to plow through the campaign on Legendary tonight. The rest of my weekend shall be filled with Dear Rising 2, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, and Valkyria Chronicles II. Donkey Kong Country 2 is getting really tough in the later stages, but I hope to work on that, too. I would also like to squeeze in some Halo: Reach multiplayer somewhere in there.
Dan: Tonight I’ll attempt a full run-through of Halo Reach on Legendary with Reiner, Tim, and Ben. I beat the game on Heroic when reviewing it, but couldn’t get more than four or five levels deep on solo Legendary. I’m sure the addition of three more Spartans should make it significantly easier. I’m considering going to the Zombie Pub Crawl tomorrow if I’m not too hung over from tonight’s events. On Sunday I’ll probably just chill out and watch football all day. Hoping the Chiefs can go 4-0, but that’s pretty unlikely considering we’re at Indy.
Meagan: This weekend I'm going to be in the middle of a real zombie apocalypse, which seems enough like a game in my book. Ben, Annette, and I will be attending the Zombie Pub Crawl once again. Like last year, we're not going as your average zombies. I've conned Annette into running around in my Left 4 Dead Zoey garb, and I'm stepping into the gold pumps of RE5's Excella. We think Ben may be whipping up some Chuck Greene action, but time will tell. Pictures and blog next week!
Annette: Zombie Pub Crawl this weekend! Meagan talked me into dressing as Zoey from Left 4 Dead so I'll be in comfy attire fighting off the drunken zombie horde. Otherwise I plan on spending some time with Def Jam Rapstar, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and Pokemon White.
Jeff M: This weekend I plan to continue expanding my kingdom in Minecraft, which is the most addictive game I’ve played in a long time. My previous attempts to build a magnificent castle were sidetracked by a bunch of chickens and cows that got trapped in the castle’s foundation. I have successfully shoo’d out all of the wayward livestock – this weekend I build!
Phil: I’ve got a strange mix of games planned for this weekend. Between sessions of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which I’m totally adoring, I plan to dig into Atelier Rorona, a strange alchemy-focused RPG that just came out for the PS3. I’m early enough that I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about the game, but I like the concept behind it at least – an RPG that’s more focused on collecting and creating items than battling to save the world. I’ll also be jumping into the head start for Lego Universe. After my disappointment in Final Fantasy XIV and with several months of waiting for Cataclysm ahead of me, hopefully this more light-hearted MMO will provide a nice break between time-consuming hardcore releases.
That's it for us. What are you up to this weekend?
