Canada Gets Disc-Free PS3 Netflix Streaming

Don't be jealous, my American brothers and sisters. We've been enjoying Netflix streaming for some time now, while our northern PS3-using cousins have been bound to the plasticky confines of physical media. Sony announced today that it is debuting its Netflix PS3 app with the Canadian launch of Netflix streaming today, with the U.S. app release to follow in October.

Hooray for Canada, I suppose. What in the world is taking Sony so long to catch up to Microsoft in this regard in general, and in the U.S. in particular, I have no idea. Ah, well. I will somehow continue on for the next month with a disc in my PS3 drive for when I really need to see crappy dub-only anime right now.
