MAG 2 Releasing January 25, 2011?

A Wal-Mart product listing has MAG 2 coming out on 1/25/2011. We love you, retailers, for leaking stuff like this well before publishers want the news to come out. When you're right, anyway.

Is it real? It'd be an awfully quick turnaround for Sony to get a sequel out just a year after the original launched. On the other hand, Sony's shown a rare commitment to establishing new IPs, and sequels are the best way to do that. Well, second-best, after "make an awesome original game," but the ship has already sailed on that one for MAG.

I find the most compelling argument against this rumor to be that the purported release date is just four months away, and Sony hasn't said word one about the title. It seems unlikely to me that the company is going to run a blitzkrieg marketing campaign through the teeth of the holiday season in just four months. I'm giving this one a 20% chance of being legit.
