CivAnon Starting Meetings Again, Handing Out $2500 Prize
2K Games is getting its amusing CivAnon viral marketing support group running again in advance of Civilization V's September 21 launch. By submitting videos telling their fictional tales of life-destroying Civilization addictions, gamers can win up to $2500 in cash.
If you don't get the big money, you can still win a print of art from the game signed by the development leads, including dreamboat lead designer Jon Shafer (seriously, he's like Chris Evans but with a deeper understanding of how tweaking the maintenance cost of Coliseums affects the relative worth of trading posts and research agreements).
Of course, that kind of money is peanuts when you're talking about ad campaigns, so don't fool yourselves into thinking that 2K is giving Civ players money out of some mad corporate altruism. 2K's marketing department is getting more than its money's worth out of this scheme.
That doesn't mean that you can't have some fun with it, and some of the videos are genuinely funny. Head over to the CivAnon Facebook page to check them out and learn more about how to manage your own Civilization addiction.
