THQ Announces Red Faction: Battlegrounds

Back in June we reported that THQ was planning a downloadable Red Faction game for XBLA and PSN. Over the weekend the company registered redfactionbattlegrounds.com as a website domain. Today we have confirmation that the new game, Red Faction: Battlegrounds, is a vehicular car combat game set on the red crust of Mars.

The title is being created by Juice Studios, developers of the Juiced series. Battlegrounds’ vehicular combat game will be played from an isometric view, perfect for keeping an eye on all the action. Players will choose from rovers, tanks, and mechs to navigate the rusty terrain of Mars and kill one another. Four-player local split-screen is also supported, so grab three friends and a couch. Even better, playing Red Faction: Battlegrounds will unlock items for the upcoming console sequel, Red Faction: Armageddon.
