There's a lot of pent-up energy over the long-awaited release of Gran Turismo 5, and perhaps as a cathartic release to all of that Sony of Europe is putting out a grand Signature Edition of the game.

Sure, you've seen these kinds of nick-nacks before in other games' special editions (who doesn't give away a wallet with their game?), but apart from being very expensive (€179.99, or about $235), this GT 5 Signature Edition is different in that it gives you a chance to win a real Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG supercar – the car that GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi calls, "the most exciting car in the world right now." The wallet contains an entry card that lets you get into a contest comprised of both in-game challenges and a real-world test at the AMG Signature Edition driving school. Of course, according to the contest rules, Americans aren't eligible, but people from a clutch of other nations are (like Saudi Arabia or New Zealand, for instance).

The European GT 5 Signature Edition

  • Metal sculpted box finished in SLS AMG Obsidian Black
  • Exclusive GT branded SLS AMG 1:43 model car
  • GT leather wallet containing Signature Edition competition entry card for a chance to win a real Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG supercar
  • Branded USB key with Polyphony/Mercedes-Benz trailer
  • GT-branded metal key fob
  • Signature Edition coffee table book featuring the beautiful cars and locations of Gran Turismo 5
  • 200-page Apex drivers magazine with hints on driving technique, car tuning, future technologies, and more
  • Five ChromeLine collector's edition cars & six stealth vehicles (see below)
  • Gran Turismo 5

If you're American and still want to blow a bunch of money on GT 5 collectibles, you could always get the U.S. Collector's Edition for $99.99

The American GT 5 Collector's Edition
