EA Tabs Trio Of Syndicate Trademarks
It's well known that developer Starbreeze Studios has been working on reviving Electronic Arts & Bullfrog's Syndicate franchise, and the other day EA filed three new trademarks for the series pointing to everything from playing cards to downloadable software.
Trademark mavens Superannuation found these new filings, and they not only refer to the game itself, but also an online game, downloadable software, and a host of ancillary products under the Syndicate banner such as toy figures, playing cards, board games, and handheld titles.
It's interesting that there is a separate trademark for "Entertainment services, namely, providing an on-line [sic] computer game; provision of information relating to electronic computer games provided via the Internet" that isn't covered under the normal "computer game software" trademark. Likewise, we wonder if the filing for "downloadable computer game software" refers simply to the game's online component, DLC, or a whole different downloadable game.
