Need For Speed Shift Sequel Arriving Early 2011

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, the new EA racer in the works by Criterion Games, is easily one of the most exciting and anticipated entries in this franchise in quite some time. Apparently EA plans to run with that momentum. If a recent bit of info from their Q1 financial results is correct, Need For Speed Shift 2 will be released early in 2011.

According to a list of upcoming releases in its financial posting, the Shift sequel will be released in Q4 of the 2011 fiscal year -- i.e. sometime between January and March of 2011. The first Shift spin-off took the Need For Speed series in a slightly more serious simulation direction, so we can expect the sequel to follow suit.

Shift 2 is listed for release on console and PC. Between this and Hot Pursuit, racing fans of all types should be able to find something they dig from the Need for Speed series over the next year.
