Final Fantasy XIV Will Have 18 Classes, More To Come

If you're the kind of MMO player who likes to plan your characters in advance, you'll be happy to know that Square Enix has revealed all 18 of the base classes that will be available at the game's launch.

According to the game's official site, the 18 classes are spread across four different disciplines: War, Magic, Land, and Hand. The last two disciplines, however, appear to be entirely crafting based. In other words, though there are technically 18 classes, it appears that only seven of them are combat-related...unless the Botanist can dual-wield pistils (insert sad trombone sound here). The team at Square Enix has promised that more classes will be added over time, however, so there's still potential for growth.
