Activision Announces Apache: Air Assault
The helicopter sim hasn’t been a hot genre since Jungle Strike, but Activision is betting that gamers will still find a thrill in taking down enemy combatants in the unfriendly skies. The company just announced a brand new title for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 called Apache: Air Assault, developed by the Russian studio Gaijin Entertainment, which developed the flight sim title IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey in 2009.
The game will feature realistic recreations of Apache helicopters that can do battle in 16 multi-stage single-player mission. The locales featured in the game span the globe from the coast Africa to verdant Central American jungles.
Apache: Air Assault places and emphasis on co-op gameplay, with a full Co-Op Campaign mode that allows two players to team up to pilot a single Apache whirlybird. There will also be competitive multiplayer, which features modes like Team Deathmatch, Ground Attack, Capture the LZ, and Ground Strike. You’ll also be able to tailor the game’s control scheme to your personal skill level with arcade and realistic control options.
Apache: Air Assault will release this fall for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
