Medal of Honor Multiplayer Beta Launching June 21
EA announced a June 21 start date for Medal of Honor’s multiplayer beta today. Two maps – the ruins of Kabul City and something called Helmand Valley – will be available for up to 24-player action. All prospective players, whether they’re on a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, or a PC, can take part.
The beta will include two modes. One is the team deathmatch EA showed off at its E3 press conference. Another, dubbed Combat Mission, has two twelve-player teams fighting over a series of objectives that are revealed through a continuing narrative. It'll be interesting to see Medal of Honor multiplayer developer (and Battlefield creator) DICE's take on the problem; from Unreal Tournament's venerable Assault mode through Splash Damage's ambitious Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, a lot of respected developers have tried their hands at delivering this sort of thing. DICE is among the best in the business, so keep your eyes on this one.
Anyone else up for jumping into the beta next week, before online play requires a special $10 code?
