UK-based development studio, Codemasters, has had 50 percent of its stock acquired by Reliance Big Entertainment. Zapak Digital Entertainment, Reliance Big’s gaming division, will be facilitating the acquisition.

Zapak Digital Entertainment is the largest gaming company in India and focuses on casual games, MMOs, and also controls a mobile gaming studio. The company’s CEO, Rohit Sharma, seems very optimistic. "We are excited to partner with Codemasters and believe its very strong technology, development, and distribution presence will complement our global gaming portfolio,” said Sharma. The CEO is also hopeful that the acquisition of Codemasters will help bolster Zapak’s racing and cricket games.

Rod Cousens, CEO of Codemasters, said he was very excited by the investment by Relaince Big. "Reliance and Zapak have immense resources and will help us realize the full potential of our game coding and online excellence across so many platforms,” said Cousens,” and especially in the world's fastest growing markets.”

Codemasters is the developer of the Dirt series, and also has an FPS called Bodycount in the works. Hopeful great things come from this team up.
