Spy Hunter Movie Still In The Works

by Annette Gonzalez on Mar 25, 2010 at 01:39 PM

Warner Bros. is now developing a film adaptation of the video game Spy Hunter, the vehicular combat racer title by Midway that first hit cabinets in the eighties. The story will follow a highly trained spy hunter who makes sure any liability to the government, rogue spy or otherwise, will be appropriately "taken care of."

Warner Bros. acquired the rights to Spy Hunter from Midway in bankruptcy court along with Mortal Kombat, Joust, and a few other franchises with the intention of bringing them to the cinema space. The movie was previously in development under Universal, directed by John Woo and Paul W.S. Anderson. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had the starring role before production was halted. Now under Warner Bros. the film will be produced by Dan Lin and Roy Lee of Vertigo. No word on who will star.

Who would you like to see in the new Spy Hunter movie?
