Weekend Warrior 02/26/10

by Annette Gonzalez on Feb 26, 2010 at 12:30 PM

Sounds like there will be lots of Heavy Rain this weekend! Read on to find out what the staff will play this weekend, then head over to the comments section and let us know your game plan.

Helgeson: Playing two shows with the Unknown Prophets. Clean the house. Assassin’s Creed II.

Jeff C: When I saw Heavy Rain demoed for the first time, I was excited at the prospect of a game that tackled adult issues and looked damned good doing it. My wife isn’t much of a gamer, but we watch a lot of serial dramas on TV together. My hope was that she’d watch me play, suggesting paths for the characters to take along the way. So far, she’s seen the game in action twice. Once while an appropriately nude woman was showering, and again when that same woman was planted on the toilet. “What the hell are you playing?” she asked before going upstairs to sleep. Anyway, I’m playing Heavy Rain this weekend. Alone.

Tim: This weekend I hope to finish my second playthrough of BioShock 2. I’m going for an evil playthrough on Hard, then I’m going to play a whole bunch of multiplayer. I would really like to get all the achievements, but that’s only if multiplayer picks up in entertainment value. When I’m not ripping sea slugs from little girls, I hope to play through the RE5 DLC and continue rocking out Darkside Chronicles.

Dan: Played a ton of the General Knoxx DLC for Borderlands last night with Reiner, and I’m definitely looking to continue on with that. I’m seeing Shutter Island on Saturday night, and the rest of the weekend will have plenty of Mass Effect 2 and The Saboteur sprinkled in. Slowly but surely, I’m working through my ridiculous backlog of games. No matter what my backlog looks like at the time, everything is getting dropped the second God of War III is in my hands.

Jeff A: I’d like to think I’ll finally get to put some time into Heavy Rain this weekend, but there’s a number of obstacles. First, I’m determined to get through the rest of The Phantom Hourglass. This game is much longer than I had anticipated, not that that’s a bad thing. Second, we’ve got some great hockey games this weekend including Team USA in the gold medal game on Sunday! Is it possible for USA to beat Canada twice? The thought scares me. Thirdly, the new Borderlands DLC just came out. I’m a sucker for Borderlands. That might very well eat up most of my time. I’m insane for choosing Borderlands over Heavy Rain aren’t I? The choices we make...

Phil: Since I was off at the Nintendo Q1 Media Summit earlier this week, I haven’t had a chance to pick up my copy of Heavy Rain yet. I’ll do that tonight and will (hopefully) spend a healthy portion of the weekend digging into that. My World of Warcraft guild is also planning our fourth excursion into the Icecrown raid. So far we’ve hit a wall at Rotface, but we’ve got the strategy for that fight down, so I’m hoping we’ll get past it this time. Any other free time will be devoted to Borderlands, where I’m desperately trying to catch up to Dan and Reiner and get into the new General Knoxx DLC. SO MANY VIDEO GAMES.

Sean: I have a 360 again! I have Fable II, Gears of War II, and Dead Rising waiting for me. Not to mention new (to me) additions to XBLA like Castle Crashers and Shadow Complex. Just got LEGO: Batman for my son to play with me (since I’m pretty sure he won’t be any good at Gears of War at 4 years old). I’m really hoping to be able to pick up a copy of Heavy Rain and possibly a vault copy of MLB 10: The Show. Also, nice to be back in Minnesota. Texas was great, but nothing beats the GI office.

Annette: I'm inching ever-so-close to the end of BioShock 2. Haven't had a whole lot of time lately to really sit down and play games, but this weekend aside from a few errands (getting my hair done tomorrow for a healthy dose of girliness} I'm going to really hunker down and plow through Rapture through the end. For real this time. I also recently bought the third season of Dexter so I'll catch up on that as well.

Jeff M: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx has everyone in the office interested in Borderlands again, and after my pathetic solo attempt at the new DLC for our preview, I’m looking forward to teaming up with my co-workers for a second try. Any video game time not spent in Borderlands will be devoted to Mass Effect 2, which I can hopefully finish up before I get sucked into Bad Company 2 next week.

That's it for us! What are you playing this weekend?
