Samus Gets "Emotional" In Metroid: Other M
Though it was announced at last year's E3, Nintendo's latest Metroid game, Metroid: Other M, remains largely a mystery. The first real details are slowly starting to slip through the cracks though. Andriasang is reporting via an article in Famitsu that Other M will feature a side of Samus we've never seen before.
Metroid co-creator Yoshi Sakomoto explained:
"...different from the rest of the series, this time we're strongly depicting the human side of Samus through such things as movies. She's a strong woman, but she also has a fragile side. We want to make a game whose charms can be felt from the story areas and these human touches as well. It's an action game, but it's capable of having a clear emotional side."
Sakomoto also noted that though Team Ninja is helping transform the game from a traditional 2D Metroid into a 3D action game, the "ideal form of the old Metroid" is still their goal.
A bit more concerning, Sakomoto admits that Team Ninja, CG studio D-Rockets, and the internal Nintendo team have had some problems. He said that the team has worked through any issues they've had, but that's always scary to hear about a game I really want to turn out good.
What are your thoughts on Metroid: Other M so far? Worried about the troubles they've had? Looking forward to exploring the softer side of Samus?
