New Peace Walker Setting, Enemies, Multiplayer Details And Screens
Hideo Kojima’s next chapter in the Metal Gear Solid series is nearly upon us, and with the game’s impending release Konami has revealed new secrets about the game. We’ve been informed on where the game takes place, new robotic enemies, and details about the online multiplayer.
As you may know, Peace Walker takes place during the Cold War in the 1970s. Big Boss and team will use the offshore plant, Mother Base, as an expandable hub to manage the crew and develop weapons. Mother Base is where captured and recruited enemies will be transported via the Fulton Recovery System (when a person releases a cable-attached balloon which is then hooked by a passing airplane).
Snake is also up against a new adversary this time around, called AI Weapons. These huge, unmanned monsters come in several varieties: airborne, tank-style, and hovering. Using VOCALOID technology, these mechanical menaces display a high level of intelligence, allowing them to communicate with Snake by talking and even singing. These AI Weapons already sound stranger than MGS4’s mooing and acid-urinating Gekkos.
Peace Walker is also set to include four-player co-op and three-versus-three battle royales. For now Konami is describing the multiplayer elements as “extensive” but is holding out on giving away too much information.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be out for the PSP in May. If you want to get a taste of the game now, be sure to check out the media gallery below and download the demo here.
