Trauma Team's Surgery In Action

by Joe Juba on Jan 05, 2010 at 08:54 AM

Ever since Trauma Team’s announcement, Atlus has kept fans of the virtual surgery series wringing their hands in the waiting room when it comes to seeing actual gameplay. To break the tension, the publisher has released this Trauma Team trailer featuring the game in action.

The trailer highlights how the motion controls are used to perform tasks during surgery. Despite dubious claims that the motions are similar to real life (if you need to suture a wound, just wiggle your wrist wildly?), this portion of the game looks similar to previous releases in the Trauma Center series. Player will be closing cuts, removing foreign objects, and burning innards with a laser.

What we don't see in the trailer, however, is how the other game modes will control. In Trauma Team, surgery is just one of six disciplines, and it’s safe to assume that a diagnostician won’t be performing the same duties as the EMT or endoscopic technician. You’ll have to wait to see how these specializations in the medical profession are represented, either by watching future trailers or actually playing the game when it releases on April 20.
