Nintendo Pleased With Holiday Sales

Although NPD sales figures for the holidays won’t be released until January 14, Nintendo is already labeling the holiday season a success based on its own calculations. The company believes the NPD Group will announce that more than 3 million Wii consoles were sold in December alone and that Nintendo DS and DSi sold a record number of units during 2009, topping that of any previous console or handheld system.

Nintendo also stated that New Super Mario Bros. Wii has been a smashing success, with an estimated 4 million sales in under the past two months. Will have the official NPD numbers later this month.
