Six Days In Fallujah Still A Possibility

by Annette Gonzalez on Oct 22, 2009 at 08:21 AM

Six Days in Fallujah, developed by Atomic Games, is an FPS title based on true events that follows a squad of U.S. Marines over the span of, you guessed it, six days. The game based on Operation Iraqi Freedom was dropped by Atomic’s partner, Konami, after opponents to the title including family members of Marines killed in battle, vocalized their concerns.

In an interview with the Marine Corps Times, studio president Peter Tamte said the company is still committed to finishing Six Days in Fallujah and is seeking new partners. No other details have surfaced on the project that was originally slated for a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC release.

Tamte is also president of Destineer, a developer currently working on a first-person military shooter for the Wii titled Marines: Modern Urban Combat that is set for a November release. In the game, players lead a Marine rifle team in an attempt to stop civil war in Beirut and can use the Wii remote, or Wii Zapper to arm themselves against insurgents. Unlike Six Days, the game is "family friendly" and entirely fictional, Tamte said. Nothing says fun for the whole family more than banding together as a group of Marines and taking down insurgents with an M16.
