Weekend Warrior: 10/02/09
As you can guess, it’s been a long few weeks for the GI crew. And while
there is still much to be ironed out with regards to our shiny new
website, everyone here is itching to get home and do what we do best.
Play games. Here is what we will be up to this weekend.
Meagan: Since I’ve been ignoring my husband all week for this website, I’m going to try my best to get some co-op action in so not to continue the trend. Probably some Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 or Halo ODST, both of which I have yet to play thanks to TGS. Otherwise, I just downloaded Zombie Apocalypse (PSN) and think it would do well to prepare me for the Zombie Pub Crawl next weekend. Still have some work to do on my Zoey costume for our Left 4 Dead group, and I need to find time to make Ben look like a potted plant. For his Plants vs. Zombie costume. His idea, not mine.
Tim: I'm absolutely starving to sit down and indulge in a video game marathon. My goal this weekend is to enter full-on vegetation mode and really sink my teeth into Halo 3: ODST. I've been burning through co-op campaign with a friend, and I'm determined to at least finish it this weekend. After that, it's time to dominate wave after wave of Covenant in Firefight. I reckon I'll follow that up by brushing up on Left 4 Dead in preparation for the sequel's impending release. Has anyone else seen Zombieland yet? It's totally reinvigorated my urge to slay the undead, and shortened my patience in waiting for L4D2 and Dead Rising 2.
Dan: I was planning on visiting some Minneapolis bars this weekend, but a messed-up knee and a case of swine flu brought to the office by Tim Turi are going to keep me sidelined (at least for tonight). I plan on playing some Street Fighter IV online while I catch up on my Hulu backlog that's amassed during these site-building weeks. Lots of Daily Show, Colbert, and Conan to watch, plus I've been meaning to work on the first season of Mad Men. I should probably start thinking about my Zombie Pub Crawl plans as well (is Frank West too obvious? This will be my first time...). I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time on the site, and there will probably be some Trials HD, Shadow Complex, and Ultimate Genesis Collection sprinkled in as well.
Reiner: Game Informer work is following me home this weekend. I have two reviews to get started on: Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. I’m already four levels into Flashpoint, so that takes priority. In my spare time, I’ll be devoting every waking minute to my wife, Kelly.
Phil: With the website finally up (no more weekends in the office!) and moving into my new apartment finally complete (no more slow, unreliable Internet speeds!), I'm planning to spend as much time possible playing games this weekend. I still need to finish up the final area in Batman: Arkham Asylum and find all the hidden stuff, and after that I'm hoping to finally jump into Halo: ODST. I'll also be taking my first shot at the new level 80 version of Onyxia with my guild in World of Warcraft. Should I require a short break from gaming, I'd like to see Zombieland, because holy crap does it look awesome.
Jeff M: After all the work we’ve put into the new website these past two weeks, the only thing I have on my schedule is sleep, and lots of it. And not any of that lazy Sunday afternoon napping -- I’m talking deep, extended animation sleep. If I’m feeling ambitious however, I’ve got three heavyweights I’m still trying to K.O. at the moment: GTA IV, Mass Effect, and Oblivion… Oh well, who needs rest anyway?
Ben: I'll be camping in the rain all weekend, so I won't be able to keep going on my play-through of Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. Fortunately, I'll be bringing my DS and Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box with me. That should keep me warm.
Bryan: I’m definitely looking forward to finally playing some games again this weekend after a week of TGS and another of crazy website launching. The top of my list is Halo 3: ODST. I saw it almost a year ago back when it was still called Recon, and have been excited to play it through ever since. Also, I’m going to try to tie up some loose ends in Batman: Arkham Asylum to get the 100% clear.
Annette: This weekend I'm getting ready for a work-related trip to San Francisco to get my hands on a game we're all looking forward to. I won’t reveal much else. All I can say is it's going to be AWESOME. I also need to get ready for Zombie Pub Crawl next weekend. Costume ideas?
What about you? What games are on your hit list this weekend?
