Microsoft: “We Have No Plans to Acquire EA”
The ruffling of feathers commenced yesterday as rumors of Microsoft purchasing EA made their rounds. Microsoft spoke with the Washington Post today to set the record straight. It looks like all the buying and selling of was moot, because Phil Spencer says it’s not happening.
"We have no plans to acquire EA," said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, during a talk with Reuters. "They remain a very important partner to us. No acquisitions."
When pressed on whether the two companies had held any talks at all, Spencer declined comment. Uh-oh, you know what happens when someone in the video game industry declines comment…
