Capcom Celebrates Mega Man 9’s 1st Birthday With Contest
A year ago today Mega Man 9 hit the Nintendo Wii via WiiWare (then the 360 and PS3 weeks later). Capcom seemingly reached trough time into the late 1980’s and plucked out a perfect, preserved gem from their catalog. The sequel came complete with 8-bit graphics, chip tunes, sprite glitches, and amazing gameplay. Mega Man 9 provided a genuine retro experience while giving gamers young and old to chance to enjoy a fresh chapter in the Blue Bomber’s career.
Today Capcom teases that they have a secret in store for fans of the blue and cyan wonder. They also add that it is absolutely not the Easter egg that Seth Killian has hinted at. We’ll be compulsively refreshing the Capcom-Unity page in order to bring you up to speed on whatever news develops. Perhaps we could be seeing Mega Man 10? Wait… would that make the whole Mega Man X thing more or less confusing?
[Update] It turns out the hullabaloo was for a contest Capcom is promoting. Anyone interested in winning one of the last remaining Mega Man 9 press kits should concentrate their creative juices into a plasma-like energy, and blast it Capcom's way. Runner ups get redemption codes for Mega Man 9.
Not a shabby deal, but it's no Mega Man 10.
